            NOMINATIONS 
     The Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc.  meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m at the Church In the Acres on Wilbraham Road.  
   This meeting will be for members to nominate people to serve as Officers & Board members.
   A donation of a non-perishable food item for the Open Pantry would be appreciated. 

          TRASH COLLECTION
              CONTAINERS
  Springfield's automated trash collection program is a big success. Most people have found the new carts neater and much easier to use. A 65 Gallon container is now available if the 95 Gallon container is too large for your needs.  To request a smaller container, call the DPW at 787-6260.  

              CONDOLENCES 
  Deepest sympathies to Sandy Moriarty and her family on the loss of her mother.
     Our thoughts are also with Kathleen Rosso with the passing of her husband, Paris.


           ROGER DUMAIS
           GYMNASIUM
      A ceremony was held at the Greenleaf Community Center on Thursday, April 19th, dedicating the gymnasium in memory of Roger Dumais. Roger was a long time 16 acres community activist and served as president of our Civic Assoc..  Attending the ceremony were Roger's widow Terry, sons David and Kevin, a sister and many other friends and colleagues.

      CONGRATULATIONS
    Dr. Helen Nolan Boyle, daugh- ter of Helen C. Boyle and the late Thomas J. Boyle Ph.D., received the Gail P. Kelly award for her out-standing doctoral thesis from a university. She was honored by the Comparative and International Education Society at an awards ceremony in Washington.
    The award honors 2 students, whose dissertation addresses social justice and equity issues in an international context.
      Dr. Boyle is a Fulbright scholar, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Classical High School, a graduate of Boston College, received her Mas-ters degree from Harvard University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

            LEMNOS LANE
  The city council will vote at their meeting on Monday, May 7th at 7:30 on whether they will use public dollars to pay for a private way off Wilbraham Road, known as Lemnos Lane. Please try to attend.
