 From the President

Since the last Newsletter we have had an Executive Board meeting and have held the annual picnic. I am looking forward to the September 10th meeting which will be our first meeting with me as your President.
I have scheduled three guest speakers for upcoming meetings.
September - Mr. Allen Zippin from the Shriners Hospital.

October - Mr. Patrick Sullivan from the Springfield Parks Department.

November - Ms. Brenda Garton a well-known local TV personality, who now works for Western New England Collage.

I am looking into Plans for a December Christmas party as I am sure that the Board of Directors will approve such a party for the Association.

Our Sympathy

Our condolences to Ann Hadank, her family and the Broska Family for the loss of their Mother Alice.

Picnic

When people work together as a team they can move mountains. This was seen at our Annual Picnic. I am pleased with the teamwork and cooperation that was shown.
The people who planned and helped to make the picnic a success deserve all of the credit. The food was good and our Chef did a terrific job. “Thank You”.

We had such a good time and so much fun that we will be doing it again next year.

AARP Chapter 1385

The next Meeting will be September 5th at the Good Life Center, 1600 East Columbus Ave. Springfield at 1:00 pm. The Melody Boys will be entertaining our members and guests. Everyone is invited.

Community Police

Last week I represented the Sixteen Acres Civic Association at the Community Police meeting. It was a great experience for me. There was a lot of participation by the people representing the many organizations from the city.
We are working together to make our Communities Safer for all

Mystery Structure

Is it a house? Is it a business? We’ll soon find out. Everyone has been asking the same question. So we will have to wait and see. If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck it is a duck. I hope it is not a business.

September Meeting

Our regular membership meeting will be held on September 10th, 7pm at the Church Of The Acres. Everyone needs to attend and should attend. Be sure to bring your donation for the Open Pantry.

Executive Board Meeting

The Executive Board will meet on Sept. 4th at 6:30pm at the Children Study Home, Old Acre Rd.

To all my friends in the association,

Mere words don't seem enough to express my gratitude for being recognized by the association at the annual picnic. The gift certificates will definitely be used as Roland and I truly enjoy the Olive Garden restaurant. To be recognized for doing something that has meant so much to me for all these years was a plus. I have made so many wonderful friends that I otherwise would not have had the privilege of doing. Everything that we do in life is creating a memory. The picnic will be a memory that I will look back to many times and will treasurer. Again, thank you all my dear friends.
