          MAYORAL FORUM

     Instead of our usual monthly meeting, a Mayoral forum will be held at Kiley Middle School on Parker Street on Tuesday, Oct. 16th at 7:00pm  
    The Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc., East Forest Park Civic Assoc. and the McKnight Neighborhood Council are co-sponsoring this event.

    The forum, with Mayoral candi- dates Mayor Michael Albano and State Representative Paul Caron, is open to the public.

     Steve O’Neil from the Springfield Journal and a WGGB - Channel 40 news team member will be our panelists, with State Senator Brian Lees serving as the moderator.

 

     CITY COUNCIL FORUM

   
    Foster Memorial Church, a member of the Pioneer Valley Project, along with the 16 Acres Civic Assoc. is holding a forum for the City Council candidates.

    It will be held at Foster Memorial Church on Wilbraham Rd. near the corner of Parker St. on Thursday, November 1st at 7:00pm.

 

                      VOTE
   Please remember to vote on Tuesday, November 6th. Polls 
are open from 7:00am to 8:00 pm..

   

  
 
                PENCILS

 

     Reverend Nicewonger has asked us to save our pencil stubs so they can be used by the students in the lower grades. 

      Please bring them to a Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc. meeting or directly to the Church In the Acres on Wilbraham Road.

     The Sixteen Acres Civic Association voted to donate $50.00 worth of pens and pencils to the Church for the Reverend to deliver to the schools.

 

                 BYLAWS
    The Bylaws committee is is in the process of updating our bylaws. The changes will be sent out to all members and discussed at our November meeting.

 

 

16 ACRES FOOD DRIVE

     The Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc. will have its 6th annual Thanks- giving Food Drive at Waldbaum's Food Mart on Cooley Street in Springfield. It will take place on Sat, Nov.10, from l0am to 4pm. The event will benefit Open Pantry's Emergency Food Pantry.
     Jean Masse, President of 16 Acres Civic
Assoc. and Chairperson of this year's food drive, said that this year will feature “Caesar” the K-9 cop, the Spfld. Mounted Police and much more.

             HOLIDAY SOCIAL  

    The 16 Acres Civic Assoc. and the Outer Belt Civic Assoc. are having a combined Holiday Social to be held on December 8th from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The event will be at Greenleaf Community Center, next to the library on Parker St..

    The Social is open to all mem- bers, their families and friends.

    We are asking members to bring some munchies, soda or a dessert if they can, and we will supply the Pizza and entertainment.

    We are also holding a raffle, if you can bring a raffle prize, it would be much appreciated.

    If you need a ride, please call Karen Powell at 796-4924 ahead of time and we will be happy to arrange one for you.
