MARCH MEETING

The next Sixteen Acres Civic Association meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the Church in the Acres on Wilbraham Road.

Patrick Sullivan, Park Superintendent will be the guest speaker.  He will be giving an update on the future plans for the Greenleaf Community Center.  He will also discuss the progress of the new park .  Following his presentation, Mr. Sullivan will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Again, we are requesting that members bring a non-perishable food item for the Open Pantry.

APRIL 16TH MEETING

Mark your calendars for the April 16th meeting.  Dr. Burke, Superintendent of Schools has agreed to be our guest speaker.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents of school age children to come and ask questions about the problems that have been plaguing the Springfield school system.  We plan to extend an invitation to all the Schools in the 16 Acres community.

FEBRUARY MEETING

Our February meeting was well attended.  We were presented with an informative show explaining what has been done at Lake Massasoit to solve existing problems and restore the Lake.

CONGRATULATIONS

To Elizabeth Boyle, M.D. on her appointment to the Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center.  Dr. Boyle is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  Her mother, Helen Boyle is Assistant to the Vice President of our Association.

To Maria Acuna, a broker with more than four years experience in real estate, has announced the opening of Maria Acuna Real Estate, LLC.

CAMP WILDER

We have some wonderful news about Camp Wilder.  The Springfield City Council has completed their 3rd reading to authorize the Park Department to purchase Camp Wilder with a combination of state grants and bonding.  This will add 27.5 acres of land for preservation by the Park Department.  Camp Wilder has been providing summer recreation for children since 1940.

ELECTIONS

We are still looking for volunteers to be on the nominating committee.  This should only take one hour of your time.  It entails making phone calls to members and asking them if they are interested in being nominated to be an officer or board member.  Please call Jean Masse at 782-0339 if you can help.

CITY COUNCILORS

Below is a list of the Springfield City Councilors along with their home phone numbers.  There are many issues that arise during the year when we ask you to make phone calls to the Councilors.  These calls have been known to sway the way they vote on issues.
