From the President

I wish to thank all of those who elected me as their new president. I have been busy putting together our Fall schedule.

Helen Boyle representing 16 Acres and Walter Gould of the Outer Belt Association. and I are looking into having a 16 Acres Senior Center in our area.

Meetings

The Executive Board meeting is scheduled for July 17th at 6:30 PM and will be held at Mill Pond School on Mill Pond Rd. Please attend.

The September membership meeting has been moved to September 10th because of a conflict with the city primary election

Our Recent Past President

It is with great pride that we recognize Jean Masse for her many years of contribution to the 16 Acres Civic Association. Not only as President but in all of her support both visible and behind the scene as one of the most dedicated members of the Association ever.

Thanks Roland

Yes, Roland Masse is to be mentioned because he generously shared Jean with us for all of those countless hours of dedication she has put into Civic duties. "Thank You Roland."

One More Time Jean

The Association will continue to collect non-perishable food items at each meeting for donation to the Open Pantry. Lets all try to double the size of our donations for the

future. It will not cause us to go hungry and according to the press we all eat too much. So let the poor and hungry have what you just pushed back from your plate as you reduce your caloric intake. Thanks.

Picnic (talking of Food)

Again Jean Masse, Peter Fett and Karen Powell are coordinated this event along with the Outer Belt Civic Association. The date is Saturday, Aug. 17th and is to be held at Camp Wilder on Parker St. The "Y" will supply life guards for swimming. The donation of your favorite dish is appreciated and people are needed to man the grill. Call Jean Masse 782-0339 or Karen Powell 783-2918 to volunteer food or help.

Large New Structure

Our President has been in touch with Jen. Murphy as to the type of structure that is being built on the corner of Parker & Frank Streets.

Even though it has the outward appearance of a possible public business type of structure she informs him that it is indeed a family dwelling.

The use of the building will be watched and if zone rules are violated we as a group will take the necessary actions to keep our neighborhoods in conformance with the law.

Parker Speed Way

It has been brought to our attention that Parker St. should be renamed to 'Parker Speed Way'.

Allowing increased speed is a way to handle increased traffic. But not 60+mph muffler less motorcycles
